Class 1 at Sleights Primary School
Hello, and welcome to Class 1. We've got lots of news that we would like to share with you about all the exciting things we've been doing.
Class 1 have been looking at minibeasts. We have been reading a variety of books, but have really enjoyed 'The Hungry Caterpillar'. The children have made class books and have enjoyed making butterflies and discussing symmetry. We are eagerly anticipating the hatching of the butterflies from their chrysalises which we hope will be any day soon.
Class 1 have been on a trip to Butterfly World and Preston Park. Here we looked at the many different breeds of butterflies, lots of strange looking caterpillars and butterfly eggs. In the afternoon we went on a minibeast hunt around Preston Park gardens and found lots of different creatures.
We are now looking at the seaside and working on maths problems based on the book '1 is a Snail, 10 is a Crab'. We are hoping the weather will be nice so that we can enjoy looking in rock pools on the beach day at the end of term.
